Easy and delicious Middle Eastern semolina dessert usually served during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dough: In a deep dish, put the flour, semolina, sugar, yeast, baking powder, corn oil and water. Using a plastic spoon, mix the materials around until you have a firm, smooth but thick dough.
Cover the dish with a piece of nylon paper and put it in a warm place until the dough doubles in size.
Cut the cream cheese squares into small squares.
Take a piece of dough the size of a nut and shape it into a small disc. Place a piece of cheese in the middle. With your fingertips, close the edges of the dough on the cheese making a star-shaped, making sure the middle is completely sealed so that the cheese does not leak during frying. Complete the rest of the dough and cheese into stars.
In a deep frying pan, add some oil, approximately 2 inches high. Put the pan over medium heat until the oil is completely heated.
Put several stars in the pan and fry them until golden. Using a spoon with holes, remove the semolina stars and put in the sugar syrup directly for a few seconds, then transfer onto a serving plate.
Garnish the semolina stars with crushed pistachios and serve.
