Darabeel (Arabic: درابيل) – It's one of the most favorites for Kuwaitis especially in winter. The dough is formed into very thin rolled layers stuffed with sugar, cardamom and cinnamon.
In a bowl, put the flour, oil and a quarter cup of water.
Knead the ingredients until smooth. Add water gradually as needed.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
To prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix the sugar with cinnamon and cardamom.
Take a small piece of dough the size of a nut and roll it out on a hard surface with a very thin thickness.
Place the filling on the tip of the dough.
Place a wooden stick on the filling and wrap the dough around itself and around the stick.
Take out the stick.
In a saucepan, warm enough oil.
Put the dough pieces in the oil and fry them until they are golden brown.
Serve with Arabic coffee.
