Fatayer is a famous Syrian appetizer dish that features a plain flour shell stuffed with your favorite filling such as cheese, minced meat... etc. and deep fried in hot oil.
Pour the warm milk into a bowl and dissolve the sugar and yeast in it and leave the mixture aside for about 5 minutes.
Add the egg, oil and salt, and stir the ingredients.
Sift the flour into another bowl and add it in 3 batches to the milk mixture and knead well after each addition.
When ingredients combine, knead for another 5 minutes.
Cover the dough and leave it in a warm place until it doubles in size.
Divide the dough into small balls, then spread each ball over a hard surface spread with flour.
Fill the dough as you like and close it tightly.
Put the fatayer pieces in a floured plate and leave them aside for 15 minutes.
Heat a large amount of oil over a medium heat and fry the fatayer until they are golden in color.
Serve hot as an appetizer.
