Homemade Samosa Pastry

A samosa is a pastry pocket that is baked or fried. Samosas are a popular entrée, appetizer, or snack. Once these samosa pastries pockets are made, the list is endless of what fillings you can use to complete them. Most popular filling is meat, spiced potatoes, onions, peas, or cheese.

 Flour: 4 cups
 Oil: 1/4 cup
 Warm water: 1/2 cup
 Sugar: 1 tablespoon
 Yeast: 1 tablespoon
 Salt: a pinch

In a bowl, put the flour, oil, water, sugar, yeast and salt.

Mix the ingredients and knead well for 10 minutes.

Leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes.

Spread the dough on a hard surface using a rolling pin with a 1cm thickness.

Cut the dough into circles, using a round cutter or a cup.

Place each dough circle into a samosa pastry mold.

Put your favorite filling in the center of the dough.

Close the mold on the dough to get the shape of samosas.

Repeat the process until all the dough is finished.

Heat oil for deep frying in a pan. Once the oil becomes hot gently slide 3-4 of the prepared stuffed samosa & then reduce the heat to low.

Turn over in between and fry till golden on a low heat.

Drain the fried samosa on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Place the samosas in a serving dish and garnish with lemon slices. Serve hot or warm.
