This recipe of Kellaj consists of kellag dough filled with cheese, baked and drizzled with sugar syrup. It is then sprinkled with grounded pistachio. It is usually served hot.
Grease the oven tray well with oil.
Spread the Kellaj dough with several sheets in the tray, making sure to spread half of the dough inside the tray and the other half outside the tray. Each dough sheet should be greased with oil.
Cover the dough completely with sweetened white cheese.
Wrap the outside end of the dough inside the tray to cover the cheese.
Grease the dough with oil.
Add one more dough sheet on the top and grease with oil.
Preheat oven at 390 F (200 C).
Bake for 10 minutes. When the time is up, turn the tray onto a larger tray and put it back in the oven to brown the bottom of the tray. Then pour the syrup, cut it into squares, or as desired.
Garnish with pistachio. serve hot or warm. Enjoy
