Cream-Filled Kunafa

Delicious cream filled Middle Eastern sweet. I am sharing this version of cream-filled kunafa with you, to show you how easy it is to fall in love with the beauty of this Arabian dessert!

 0.550 lbs (250 gr) kunafa dough
 1/2 cup melted butter or ghee
 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
 1 cup cream
 3/4 cup syrup
 1/4 cup pistachios, minced

Preheat the oven to 390F/200C.

Bring an 8-inch round tray. Grease it with an abundant layer of ghee or butter. put it aside.

In a food processor bowl, add the kunafa dough. Turn it on until you get a fine kunafa. Do not put a large amount of kunafa at once as it is difficult to shred it, you must add small amounts at a time.

Note: You can chop the kunafa with a knife instead of using a food processor

In a bowl, place the kunafa, add the melted butter or ghee, then rub the kunafa with your fingers to be distributed well.

Sprinkle the sugar over it and stir to be mixed.

Put half of the amount in the greased tray, and press it down with your hands or the back of a spoon.

Spread the cream, leaving about 1 cm on the sides without cream.

Sprinkle the rest of the kunafa on the top to cover it well.

Press with your palm slightly and lightly, over the surface of the Kunafa to make it even.

Put the kunafa in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until it becomes golden in color.

Take out kunafa form oven, then pour cool syrup on the hot Kunafa.

Garnish with pistachios. Serve warm or at normal temperature.
