Baked Kofta Patties with Tomatoes

Baked Kofta patties in spicy tomato sauce (a meat mix with chopped parsley, onion, garlic, mint, green pepper and spices) are topped with sliced tomatoes and baked.

For the Kofta Mixture:
 2 lbs ground beef
 2 onions, finely chopped
 4 garlic cloves, crushed
 1 hot green pepper, chopped
 1 cup parsley, chopped
 1/4 cup mint, chopped (optional)
 1 1/2 tsp salt
 1/2 tsp black pepper
 1 tsp allspice
For the Sauce:
 3 large tomatoes
 1/2 cup lemon juice
 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
 2 garlic cloves, crushed
 1 tsp allspice
 1/2 tsp cardamom, powder
 1/2 cup water
To serve:
 pine nuts, fried

Place the kofta mixture ingredients in a deep bowl and mix well.

Bring a baking tray.

Form fingers from the kofta mixture. Arrange in the baking tray next to each other.

Cut the tomatoes in half, then cut each half into slices to get the semi-circular slices.

Place the tomato slices between the kofta fingers so that the slices stick to the kofta. The chopped portion of tomato should be down.

In a cup, add lemon juice, pomegranate molasses, garlic, spices, cardamom and water. Mix well and pour over the kofta.

Bake in a 350F oven uncovered for about one hour. Serve.
